New WorldI'm writing to you from my new Sony Vaio with a cup of coffee close enough to cause tremendous damage...ah, the thrill seeker I am this morning. I am slowly trying to put my life on this laptop and when I say life, I mean poems. Moving from one computer to another is like moving from one house to another. You pack up all your stuff in boxes and decide what you want to keep.
In real life, I'm not a hoarder, I don't like clutter and my motto is "We use it, or we lose it." However, when it comes to the computer, I save every email, every sent letter. I save cover letters to magazines. I save versions and versions of poems. My mss wears a thousand dresses and I save them all--remember that eve you wore blue?
Vista
Along with this new computer came MS Windows Vista. Basically, it's the same, I've just had to get comfortable with where things are and how it looks. It looks as if my computer just swallowed ToonTown, everything with its curved corners and bright colors. It's sort as if Disney got drunk with Bill Gates, this would be their creation.
What I like? The screen saver that comes up as different color bubbles. And the "Gadgets" section where I have a clock, the date, the weather, and a small slide show. Upgrading to Windows Vista would be like buying the car for the cup holder (sadly, something I've done). But in my case, Vista came with the system, so while I have the cool cupholders and the fancy dashboard now, I was fine in my old car, the one with a dusty ashtray and the useful but boring radio.
