I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends...
I finished my second manuscript last week, printed it out and will be mailing it out tomorrow. However, I had trouble with which quote to use to open the collection. Sometimes I feel I can be too close to my mss, which is why poetfriends are so important.
Last night I emailed out my possible quotes to five friends and by this morning I had thoughtful responses by them explaining their thoughts and their favorite(s) quotes. I think a poetry community is so essential to poets. Another poet who I respect told me once, "Art is not a Tupperware party," and while I agree to this, it also doesn't always have to be a world of one.
