I Must Revise My Revisions...

A poem is never finished, only abandoned. Paul Valery
I could say the same about a manuscript as well. I realized after sending out my mss today that I wanted to revise it again. I don't think it needs revising and in fact, I seem to be moving the same poems in and out or rearranging the order. It's almost a nervous tick. It's almost believing if I have the secret-decoder ring, they'll unlock the door again and let me in.

And here's the other thing, I'm not sold on my title. I understand the concept, the theme, the bigger meaning to my book, but I can't find the words that will add an electric charge to the book, create energy, tension, something, something, something. Yesterday in yoga I tried to conjure up a new title in savasana. This is the time in yoga when your mind is to be free from all thought and I'm running through the poems in my manuscript page by page and hoping for divine intervention. Nuthin'.

I was so certain I was finished. I was so certain the manuscript wouldn't be touched by me anymore. The manuscript is the danger zone, I'm Cyndi Lauper and I can't stop messing with it. Shebop.
